The official blog site of Google announced on July 7, 2009 the launch of Google Chrome operating system that will be built on Google Chrome browser (launched a year ago)
It will be light weight, fast and secure – the key differentiators – compared to Windows and Desktop Linux OS
It is expected to be available in mid 2010 and initially target netbooks (not notebooks!)
The media is abuzz with so many articles on this announcement that is viewed as the last in the battle between Microsoft & Google
It will be interesting to watch this development as it unfolds over the next three years
Interestingly, the blog post had some Indian connection (Sundar Pichai, VP of Product development in Google)
