Economist carries an article “The Outsourcer” in the current week’s edition that talks about Tutor Vista – a Bangalore-based firm that is quietly growing in size. This firm founded by the serial entrepreneur K Ganesh links high school teachers with significant passion and experience to teach “live” children in USA over the Net. Using high quality teachers to work from home, Internet-based customer acquisition, and Net-based teaching that uses creative tools, minimal use of bandwidth hungry video but more effective white-board, exploiting the broadband connections at home and an imaginative business model, Tutor Vista has managed 2,200 paying customers; it expects to get 10,000 students by the end of the year.
